CROSSING THE LINE IN BETWEEN
INTERIOR AND ART
Arisen from its founder's intuition, to commit himself to mosaic with the aim of moving it from the limbo of history to the current time, SICIS has been exploring mosaic art, thus enhancing the flexibility and the versatility of its uses, and becoming its most important creator in the contemporary world.
Mosaic is meant as multiform language, vehicle of traditions, fashions, and trends.
SICIS is synonymous with luxury and originality, and it has got a know-how which has been increased in years of multifaceted activity, by combining genres, styles and materials in multiple fields, from surfaces to furniture, to real work of art and jewellery made of mirco and nano mosaic.
The company has developed and patented the technique for realization of the artistic mosaics, it has also developed new methodologies of production and use for marble mosaic, as well as for the one made of precious stones and metals, such as gold. It has gone beyond the creation of surfaces or products, allowing use of mosaic in any field.
Sicis is, more than anything, a factory of artists, artisans, glassmakers, mosaicists, who create and reinterpret the musive culture. They are inspired by the city of Ravenna, historical land of mosaic, where they have their seat, thus absorbing its memory.
SICIS products are 100% Made In Italy certified.
Each work, each new project is studied and realized within this creative forge, and they find their inspiration in research about territories linked to the artistic world, which is carried on by the creative team as well as by the founder himself.
It was during a trip to Japan that Placuzzi had the chance of meeting the works by the painter Jakuchū, which fascinated him. Back in his ateliers in Ravenna, he decided to study in depth the Japanese art of painting, and he saw that Shinto thought was very close to the philosophy of SICIS. Thanks to this study, they decided to recreate some of his works with the technique of mosaic, which brilliantly convey the perfection of details, recognizable in the works of the painter as his identifying feature.
By doing so, SICIS intends to pay homage to this great Japanese painter, whose tercentenary will occur in 2016.
